Stiefkind Apple Juice

During my studies, I was part of the interdisciplinary team that developed Stiefkind apple juice – a project that originally began as a student initiative and developed into a multi-award-winning brand idea.

The idea was born in collaboration with Magdalena Schneider, whose family cultivates a special apple variety at the Apfel Schneider fruit farm in Edingen-Neckarhausen: a cross between a red-fleshed ornamental apple and a yellow-fleshed eating apple. This variety is characterized by its bright red color and refreshingly tart flavor. Because it differs from traditional, sweet apple varieties, it was given the name „Stepchild“—an affectionate reference to its uniqueness within the apple family.

As part of our project at the Stuttgart Media University, we developed a comprehensive communications concept for this product. My primary responsibility was designing the logo. The result is a striking red logo featuring both an apple and a bobbed-haired girl with a slightly sour expression, matching the taste of the juice. This design reflects the product’s unique characteristics and gives it a distinctive identity.

The project received widespread recognition and was awarded the Rhein-Neckar Marketing Prize. It was also featured in various media outlets, including the Stuttgarter Zeitung and HOFdirekt.
